29May How To Backup And Restore Your WordPress Blog ?
How often you backup your wordpress blog? For me, I always backup my wordpress database everytime I made a new post. Today, I’ll share on how to backup and restore back your wordpress blog. So, here’s step by step tutorial =)
Backup Your WordPress
Step 1
On the left side, there is “Tools” menu. Expend the box and click on the “Export“.

Step 2
Click on the “Download Export File“. A new Box will appear.

Hit ok and save your file. Now you have backup your WordPress blog.
The file you’ve saved contains your posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags. All the images in your blog are not save along the backup file.

Restore Your WordPress
Step 1
Under the “Tools” menu on your left sidebar, click on the the “Import“.

Step 2
Click on “WordPress“.

Step 3
Browse the file that you have saved before and hit on “Upload file and import” button.

Step 4
Click on “submit” button. Done =)

Hoho… Last time, I do not know how to do the back up and I lost my database for 3 times… How sad. I have no one to turn to to help me with that… LOL.

There is also a way to back up your wordpress theme from you cpanel, at least with my hostgator account I have the possibility to create a back up for my wordpress, so that if I ever get a virus, I can use the back up to reinstall everything I loosed.

U can also use WP-database backup plugin for daliy auto-backup of ur blog

Hi and thanks for the info, a very detailed post.
I use a plug-in to backup my database and ask my hosting company to make folder backups for me on a regular basis. You never know when you will need it.

Well I have shifted content and even whole the sites a lot a times. This method is useful as backups when you transfer whole sites, the best way is to zip and download all the files. Export you database using mysql and you are done.

I try to back mine up about once a month. Or any time I change something big. Just changed to the new 2.8 WordPress and backed up all my stuff then.
